Illustration mess

I've just committed the stupidest mistake in the novices book of illustrators: I ran with my first idea before thinking it through.
The result: I'm stuck working on the wrong characters, with the wrong colors, I know it's a mistake but I can't change anything because it's not my project and the "client" is already fixed on the idea.
And all I'm thinking is: blah! Nice attiude to work with, ha?
